Cross Border E Commerce 3PL Boosts Warehouse Speed and Accuracy with MingQ RFID Gateway Solution

Clean-energy equipment manufacturer enhances material traceability with mingq rfid pallet management solution

As one of Asia's leading suppliers of heavy electrical and renewable-energy equipment, the customer manufacturers complete electromechanical systems for hydropower, pumped storage, thermal, and nuclear project worldwide. Across its complex production network, thousands of pallets loaded with raw materials, castings, and sub-assemblies move constantly between machining, assembly, surface-treatment, and storage zones. Precise tracking of these pallets is vital to ensuring that critical components reach each station on time and in the correct sequence.

MingQ Success Story: rfid pallet and component flow management solution

Overview: Production Line Challenge
In daily operations, each pallet carried essential motor and generator parts such as copper windings, stator laminations, or rotor housings. Identification depended on paper travelers, paint markings, or handwritten labels that were easily damaged by oil, dust, and handling. Once pallets entered busy production aisles, it became difficult to determine their current location or verify which parts were loaded.
Without real-time tracking, production teams spent time manually searching for materials or confirming whether a batch had completed its assigned machining step.
Lack of visibility also created risks of process sequence errors, bottlenecks, or material shortages at key assembly stations.
The manufacturer required a rugged, automated system capable of identifying pallets during normal operation - without pausing conveyors or forklifts - and synchronizing location and process data instantly with the factory's MES and warehouse management systems.

Benefits / Outcomes:

Real-time pallet tracking across machining, assembly, and storage zones
Automation of process confirmations without manual scanning
Reduced search time and elimination of sequence errors
Improved material availability and balanced production flow
Enhanced traceability supporting lean and digital manufacturing initiatives

About the Customer

The customer's factories produce hydro generator stators and rotors, turbine runners, and large industrial motor systems for power projects around the world.
Materials including copper bars, core laminations, and machined components are handled on heavy-duty pallets that circulate through multiple processes before final assembly. To keep complex, high-value production schedules on track, materials must flow seamlessly between machining, surface treatment, pre-assembly, and test areas. Treating pallets as the managed unit of control became key to improve visibility, synchronizing logistics, and maintaining precise process sequencing across departments.

The Challenge

Pallets carrying different sets of motor components often looked identical and were manually marked with temporary labels that deteriorated quickly. Updates on pallet movement relied on forklift operators or line workers to record transfers, which led to delayed and incomplete tracking data.

Supervisors lacked a real-time overview of which pallets were in machining, assembly staging, or inspection zones. This made it difficult to optimize work balancing, manage bottlenecks, and ensure the correct parts arrived at the next station on schedule.

The manufacturer needed a durable RFID-based system that could withstand harsh industrial environments, identify pallets automatically as they moved, and update status continuously in the MES without interrupting the production flow.

“With RFID pallet tracking in place, we finally have a clear picture of where key motor components are in our plants,”
- said the Production Logistics Manager

The Solution

MingQ implemented an RFID Pallet Management Solution combining RFly-I100 compact readers and RFly-R6 readers paired with AB8020 directional antennas. Each pallet was fitted with a high-durability UHF RFID tag mounted on its side surface, providing reliable identification through exposure to heat, oil, and vibration.

The MingQ Difference: Results and Benefits

Since implementing the RFID Pallet Management System, the clean-energy manufacturer has gained full transparency of its material flow from raw parts to finished equipment. Pallet locations and process histories are now visible across departments, reducing manual checks and eliminating sequence errors that once delayed assembly.
Material availability at pre-assembly and test areas has become more consistent, while data accuracy and traceability support stringent quality and project documentation requirements for hydropower and renewable-energy equipment.
By integrating MingQ's RFly-I100 and RFly-R6 readers with AB8020 antennas, this clean-energy equipment manufacturer has turned everyday pallets into intelligent carriers that connect production, logistics, and data management. The system enhances synchronization, shortens search and handling time, and strengthens the digital backbone that supports lean, high-efficiency manufacturing for power projects worldwide.
